Evil time steals hope and makes everything feel scary and impossible to escape. In this world, every second could bring something even worse.

But don’t worry. As we break down this topic, explore its true meaning, reveal its purpose, and offer some antidote against it, you will be ready to stand firm, knowing what God wants you to do as a believer.

evil time

What does the bible say about evil time?

The word antidote means a remedy to counteract the effects of poison. It is a way of preventing or acting against something evil. ‘Evil time’ refers to a period of war, trouble, famine, persecution, tribulation, kidnapping, lack of peace, pestilence, earthquake, affliction, and rampant killing.

It is the time when false ministers rise to deceive many. It is when iniquity will abound and the beginning of sorrows.

Understanding the Purpose Behind Perilous Time

  • It is a Warning Sign:

Our Lord Jesus Christ and apostle Paul have forewarned us before times to prepare our minds for the terrible time coming to befall the world. It is not to scare us but to prepare and be ready to fight it with everything He has given us by continuing in what we have learned and having a firm belief in knowing from whom you have learned them (Jesus Christ) 2 Timothy 3:14.
  • Proof that His words are True:

God is not a man who should lie. Everything He has ever said in his word will surely come to pass. We are not to joke with His word but take it seriously and act on it so as not to be victims of the time Numbers 23:19.
  • Evangelism:

The gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ serves as a testimony to all nations, and it is the responsibility of all believers to preach it. Our lifestyle and character should tell more about Jesus to people around us and use all means to proclaim the gospel Matthew 24: 14.

What are the Antidotes Against Evil Time?

Perilous times are to come, and we are already in them. That will lead us to some of the things to do to overcome while we are on earth as believers. Below are ten antidotes we can implement against the difficult times of this age.

  1. Remember your Creator:

This is not the time to be partying around, procrastinating, or claiming to be too busy to have time for your Creator. It is the time to put Him first in all you do. ‘ Remember now thy creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not.’ Ecclesiastes 12:1
  2. Accept the Truth:

The world is of deception and lies. Say no to lies and deceit and receive the truth, Jesus Christ. Jesus said unto him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life no man cometh unto the father but by me. John 14:6. Jesus is the only way back to your Creator.
  3. Follow God’s Doctrine:

This is the time to closely observe and follow God’s doctrine, conduct, purpose in life, faith, patience, love, and steadfastness 2 Timothy 3:10.
  4. Be Scriptures Addicted:

Read and study more of the scripture daily for spiritual growth. Every scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, (and) for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action). 2 Timothy 3:16.
  5. Be a Prayer Addict:

First, spend time before the Lord in prayer; don’t keep silent, for a closed mouth leads to a closed destiny. Consequently, when your destiny is shut, evil rules your world (Psalms 55:16-17). And He spoke a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray and not to faint Luke 18:1.
  6. Be Filled with the Holy Spirit:

As a child of God, this is the time we need to be connected to the Holy Spirit 24/7 to wave evil away from us. Your disconnection from the Holy Spirit can bring evil upon you. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess, but be filled with the spirit (Ephesians 5:18). Disconnect yourself from sin and be more connected to the Holy Spirit Galatians 5:16. Don’t gratify the desires of the flesh.
  7. Redeeming the Time:

Daily in your prayer, redeem the time by making the best use of your time and every opportunity that comes your way. Be wise and understand the will of the Lord. Redeeming the time because the days are evil Ephesians 5:16.
  8. Be Watchful:

Be vigilant. The devil and his agents roam around like lions, seeking whom to devour. Watch and pray that you do not enter into temptation; the spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is weak (Matthew 26:41). Remember that the word ‘watch’ comes before ‘pray’. Don’t be prey in the hands of the devil.
  9. Walk in Wisdom:

Behave wisely in your relations with unbelievers ( the people of the world). When dealing with them, do so with wisdom. Make use of every opportunity with them by presenting Christ to them. Let your mouth speak words of wisdom (Psalms 49:3). Walking with wisdom saves you from falling into the ditch.
  10. Wake up:

It’s high time to be a proactive Christian. Therefore, don’t ignore the spirit; let your light expose darkness, for our salvation is nearer than we think (Ephesians 5:13-14; Romans 13:11-12).

Conclusion

Evil time reflects darker periods, the consequences of unethical actions, and personal struggles with moral corruption and chaos. Acknowledging this darker period can help us better understand the importance of redemption, scripture, and the Holy Spirit. Only by confronting evil, whether individual or collective, can we progress toward healing, justice, and the restoration of balance.
